You Won’t Find a Better Deli Sandwich Than Dimo’s in Ann Arbor

Written by Shawn Smith on November 26, 2008 – 8:49 am -

My second visit to Dimo’s gave me a chance to try something truly special, the #13 (I think :)). Their hot pastrami sandwich is a dish that’s been missing in my heart for years - after all, I was vegetarian for 5 years up until recently.

While sometimes bordering on the pricey side, Dimo’s piles its food baskets with tons of edibles.

Order a sandwich and you’ll be lucky to eat half of it. The hot pastrami I ate cost about $8, but I was able to save half of it for a second meal. Sandwiches usually come with a bag of chips. I don’t usually eat those so we skipped them on this day and stuck with our french fries.

Choose from a variety of bottled beverages or get one included with their daily lunch special.

Once you order, you get to pick a seat and wait for your order to be called by the friendly staff. But don’t pick up the wrong sandwich or you might get yelled at, and that’s part of the fun.

Here’s a look from my recent trip:

Is your mouth watering yet?

The Blue Tractor, overall, is really a nice looking place. And what’s super cool is the restaurant connects to Cafe Habana through the basement. Check out this quick tour of the basement region:

Hope that was great for you as it was for me… I’m heading back for dinner tonight!

Shawn Smith Eats at the Blue Leprechaun - and Lives To Share the Video

Written by Shawn Smith on August 22, 2008 – 2:49 pm -

While the food wasn’t terrible, Blue Leprechaun’s fare wasn’t much to write home about. If you’re in the mood for Irish Food, head to Main St. for Conner O’Neil’s.

The drinks looks average, but they did have a number of blended draft beers, which was impressive.

The restaurant is very new, opening only two days before I ate there. They have a lot of nice flat-screen TVs, but they aren’t all in the best viewing positions. Patrons should probably sit in the bar area if they want to catch a game.

I will say that the decor is a huge step up from the former bar occupant, Touchdowns. That place was all … and no class - for goodness sakes it didn’t even have a door on the male restroom and stalls.

Last word: If you visit the Leprechaun and want to sample the shepherd’s pie - don’t.

Shawn Smith Visits Ann Arbor’s Red Hot Lovers for a Coney Dog

Written by Shawn Smith on August 14, 2008 – 1:38 pm -

I ate a coney dog! Chili was good, believe it - but Red Hot Lovers can really put a little more meat in their all-beef wieners. The waffle fries and cheese though - that was great - REAL CHEESE!
