Can I, Shawn Smith, hit the top of Google’s rankings
Written by Shawn Smith on October 4, 2007 – 9:22 am -So it’s been a while, a looonnnngggg while. I’ve been pushing hard at MLive.com since taking on more responsibility with Bill and the web design and web marketing stuff at Optimal Webworks has been non-stop work.
But it’s really interesting and leading me to learn more about building higher rankings in organic search results.
Which brings me to today’s discovery: I, Shawn Smith, rank numbers 8, 11, 12 and 51 on Google search results when searching for my name, “Shawn Smith” - But I want to be number 1!
Also, my name appears on the fourth page of the results for “Tim Agne” for my twitter page. I’m puzzled why my shawnsmith.tubmlr.com page doesn’t rank higher, since it’s aggregating content from nearly all my blogs, my twitter and my shared posts on del.icio.us and Google reader.
Sam Jones is working hard on getting his name to the top by updating his samuofm blog. He hit number 18 in Google’s results earlier this week, but then dropped to page 4 for results of “Sam Jones”
Where do you rank on Google when searching your name?
